The Pazo de O Cuadrante, in the town’s old quarter, is where writer and playwright Ramón María del Valle Inclán was born, on the 28th of October of 1866. The regal stone structure, that belonged to his maternal grandparents, houses on the ground floor (the old stables) an exhibition with period documents and first editions that guide the visitor through the life and works of the creator of the Theater of the Grotesque. The top floor evokes the atmosphere of the nineteenth century house that Valle Inclán knew, with its bedrooms and living rooms overlooking a garden dominated by an impressive hundred-year-old magnolia. It’s the starting point for the “valleinclanian” routes that follow the writer’s footsteps across the town.
